MENEX company operates in more than one industry. Here we want to emphasize its production and export of deep-frozen fruit, and to single out the production and export of organic fruit – which already dominates the company’s overall export with over 60%. MENEX’s main markets are the countries of Western Europe (Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Belgium, the Netherlands), while we also export to America and Canada, and Asian countries (China, India, Vietnam).

COMPANY DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURIAL STORY
MENEX d.o.o. is a family business established in 1991 by Momcilo Jovanovic. The company started with importing truck tires from Russia and Hungary. After several years and during the sanctions against Serbia, MENEX was forced to export something to obtain foreign currency so it could buy tires. We started exporting fruit and in 1999 made our own refrigerator.
Since 2002 MENEX has been involved in the import and distribution of frozen fish, and in 2022 it is still involved in all of the three activities. MENEX is at present focused on production and export of organic fruits and vegetables. In 2022 we plan to produce over 4,000 tons of various organic fruits. Over the years the company was faced with multiple challenges and difficulties, but owing to dedicated work and commitment of its management and staff MENEX has successfully overcome all of them.
CONTRIBUTION TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
MENEX contributes modestly to sustainable development, by providing its staff with decent working conditions and the possibility for career advancement. The company also aims to increase income of its subcontractors. MENEX is making efforts to keep young people in the rural areas of Serbia by switching to organic production. Through professional advice and services we aim to increase the yield and productivity of the subcontractors. MENEX’s staff include 5 young fruit growers, security guards, and agronomists. Not negligible contribution to sustainable development is the technology of organic production applied by MENEX. The technology uses no pesticides (the main pollutants of soil and water) that are a major health risk in our industry.
