COMPANY DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURIAL STORY
PIGO – R was founded in 2006 as the successor of the company P&G o. The company’s founder eng. Radisa Pajic has successfully run P&G o. since its establishment in 1991. Mr. Pajic gained huge experience working previously in the food industry. In the early 1990s when the first small private companies emerged in Serbia during the transition, large systems were collapsing and manufacturers in the food industry lacked quality equipment. Mr. Pajic recognised the opportunity to develop the food market. The basis of the company’s production has always been: high quality and reliable equipment, observance of agreed parameters and delivery deadlines, and impeccable maintenance of machines. Such a basis convinced the company’s customers they can always rely on PIGO-R and risk no uncertainties when doing business with us. Over several decades the company has developed the best-known Serbian brand in the field of production of technological equipment for fruit and vegetable processing. Our equipment and machines were produced according to our own technical designs and solutions and before long the company’s good image spread to the region the EU countries and beyond. When funds to finance projects in the food industry became available, new markets opened up for us while both our production capacity and demand for our equipment increased.
CONTRIBUTION TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
30 years since its establishment the company is headed by two women who continue to run the business very successfully with the invaluable help and support of the first founder. They aim to maintain the image built over the years and to ensure stable operation and growth of the company through very competitive times. Also, most management positions in PIGO-R are held by women although the company is operating in a “male environment”.
Further to its core business (the production in Belgrade) PIGO-R Freeze opened a branch in Zabari near Velika Plana ten years ago. Our objective was to encourage the development of fruit and vegetable production in an underdeveloped part of Serbia. Our Zabari branch deals in the acquisition and processing of fruits and vegetables. OPREMA PIGO-R has maintained cooperation with academia and other scientific institutions for years, In order to improve the quality of its products and to advance the training of young people.
