Vega IT is the largest software company in Serbia with no foreign shareholders. Established in 2008 Vega has been operating successfully in Western Europe and America since. Among the company’s clients are some of the best-known names in the fields of medicine, finance, transport and logistics, pharmacy, and many other sectors. Once a group of friends who decided to work together, VEGA at present employs almost 800 engineers in Novi Sad, Zrenjanin, Beograd, Nis, and Podgorica.
From humble beginnings (as a subcontractor to larger Western software companies) through investing constantly in development and growth, VEGA IT works today directly for some of the world’s largest companies. VEGA won the Deloitte “Technology Fast 500 EMEA Award” as one of the fastest-growing technology companies in the region of Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

COMPANY DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURIAL STORY
VEGA IT was founded by two students from the Polytechnics Faculty in Novi Sad. They started their entrepreneurial adventure with an initial capital of 4,000 euros. VEGA has grown at an annual rate of over 30% ever since – in respect of staff size, income, and profit.
Aiming to provide the best possible service to their clients, VEGA founders have been hiring some of the best software engineers in Serbia since day one. Over the years, they saw an opportunity to expand the range of their services by employing also the non-engineering staff. This enabled them to offer to customers a comprehensive service and to create added value by relying on their own proactive and innovation-oriented ideas. Clients see VEGA’s services as a premium, and the company has positioned itself as a leader in the IT industry. This allowed for an increase in prices over the years, enabling VEGA to invest more in further development and growth and to offer its staff an even better work environment. VEGA’s award-winning company culture (which nurtures an atmosphere where the staff feels safe, free, and happy) is also a great contribution to the stable growth VEGA recorded over the last 14 years.

From the outset, the founders wanted to create a successful business and to use the success to make the world a better place to live. VEGA founders, the staff, and their families all live in Serbia – and that’s why raising the country’s living standard is among their prime concerns. VEGA invests time and money in improving the education system, developing entrepreneurship, and organising various socially responsible campaigns.
Some of the most prominent campaigns of this type are:
– “IT Developers for Citizens” – where VEGA supports the work of non-profit organisations by developing software solutions for them
– GreenIT – aims to make green kindergartens and schools throughout Serbia
– Support knowledge – aims to improve the quality of teaching by donating computers to schools
– Start today – introduces primary and secondary school students to the information technology industry, and motivates them to continue their education in that industry.
VEGA IT won the national award of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia “George Weifert” for socially responsible business. In 2022 Vega IT Foundation was launched with the aim to offer a platform for a bigger impact on the development of local communities.
