Through its daughter companies, LUNA completely covers markets of 5 countries in the region and exports worldwide – LUNA models are worn by ladies from Japan and Australia to America. Through a modern and authentic retail concept, the company provides an exceptional shopping experience in the country as well as beyond. The developed franchise and wholesale collection distribution channels provide the availability to a large number of customers.

COMPANY DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURIAL STORY

LUNA was founded exactly thirty years ago as a joint endeavor of mother and daughter, as a small craft shop with one sewing machine in the family apartment. The mother’s “golden hands” and sewing skills combined with the energy, creativity, and enthusiasm of the daughter, current owner of LUNA Biljana Jovanovic, enabled the company to develop and grow each year. They gathered great women, motivated, ready to learn, fight challenges and create the story of LUNA together. LUNA is a very atypical company when gender structure is concerned, both in Serbia and beyond – from its formation until today, over 95% of employees are women, including all management functions. In order to grow from a craft shop into a modern business system, which operates in several markets and exports a significant part of its products, it was necessary to constantly learn and invest in knowledge on all levels. People were and remain the largest capital the company owns. Each year the number of employees grew so that today we can proudly say that more than half of the employees work together for over 15 years, which results in harmony and great commitment of all employees to a common goal.

CONTRIBUTION TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

We are aware that without adopting the latest technology and digitization, one cannot be competitive in the demanding world market. Over the years a lot of attention has been dedicated to the development of information technology and all business and production processes so that today, as a result, we have all production processes connected by a modern information system, state-of-the-art modeling software is being used, automatic tailoring equipment was installed two years ago and was recently put to work as well as a fully software controlled sewing line, which completed the state-of-the-art digital and technological production process. Although LUNA is entirely focused on technological development, it has not neglected the need to preserve the environment and follow world trends when it comes to energy. The company set up a modern solar power plant on the roofs of its production halls which, during the summer, covers a large percentage of the energy needs. The temperature of the earth is also being used for heating the water in the heath pumps and thus saves even more energy. For many years plastic and paper are separated in production and sent for recycling. The women in LUNA are the “base and engine” of development. It is said that LUNA is a company where women create for women.
