Our vision is to be a leader in the Western Balkans in the digital transformation towards sustainable production, in particular among small and medium-size companies. Our strategy is to develop advanced smart technology modules that can be easily integrated into existing production systems. The modules are designed to measure and analyse parameters related to monitoring: environmental pollution, energy consumption, and production quality. Our modules facilitate the making of models of sustainable production for each company individually. Our most important product is Green Digital Twin (GDT) a model of the production process generated from data collected using artificial intelligence methods. The GDT allows various types of analysis to achieve sustainable production. Our specific goal is to establish eco-friendly quality processes and products, i.e. quality that satisfies not only the customer (and the manufacturer) but has also a minimum negative impact on the environment. This requires identifying production modes that negatively affect the environment and improving them.

COMPANY DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURIAL STORY
The NISSATECH’s founder Nenad Stojanovic graduated in the field of polytechnics in the mid-1990s and for some time he worked in Serbia (mostly in scientific/research institutions) before moving abroad. “My personal reason was the research topic (Semantic Web) which at the time was not available at the university where I worked as an assistant professor back in 2000,” Mr. Stojanovic explained. So he decided to move abroad to complete his PhD thesis and applied for an academic job at a good university in Germany where he worked for 15 years. “At one point while working in an almost perfect research world, the opportunities available in a government institution could not match my will to know and energy to change the world,” says Mr. Stojanovic. After analysing the booming startup scene in Germany he concluded that his “motive to change the world” differs from the motive of the mainstream startup community – and decided to return to Serbia and start a company that would realise his vision “created and validated in and from Germany.”
CONTRIBUTION TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
NISSATECH’s greatest contributions to the sustainable development of Serbia are (1) promoting awareness of the importance of sustainable production and (2) facilitating a smooth digital transformation of various types of companies
towards sustainable production.
NISSATECH offers innovative technological solutions to achieve sustainable production. Therefore the company primarily contributes to the advancement of Goals 8 and 9. Goal 6 is also relevant because NISSATECH’s systems reduce pollution and the release of hazardous substances. The average age of NISSATECH’s staff is far below 30 and with that in mind, the company is creating a new generation of engineers who understand why and how technological innovation must meet sustainability criteria (including social aspects) to contribute to Goal 4.
NISSATECH has implemented as many as 11 projects funded by the EU program Horizon and that demonstrates amply the company’s genuine commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals.
