For vehicles, industrial machines and robots, and household devices to be able to move autonomously – it is necessary to further improve the sensors that play the role of human sensors i.e. that understand the world around them. This refinement can take place (1) at the level of hardware – the physical components of the sensors of the future, and (2) at the level of software – smart algorithms that process a large amount of information incredibly fast and allow machines to make decisions instead of people. NOVELIC deals with these areas of development, especially for one important group of sensors – radars. These sensors were once used only in the military industry, but in recent years they have become particularly popular in the automotive industry and then in other industries. The sensors have become miniature, affordable, and increasingly accurate. NOVELIC is one of the synonyms for the development of radar technology globally. We are completely oriented toward foreign markets.

COMPANY DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURIAL STORY
The founders of the company are engineers (former ETF students from Belgrade) who worked together at one point for a company in Germany. The NOVELIC founders are of different ages but they had a common vision: to develop and then manufacture a radar chip in Serbia. That would be the only such case in a much wider region. The idea was to develop all components of the radar sensor in their future company and offer it to key industries – automotive, machine, and electronic. In order to develop their technology, they had to develop a financing system through generating revenue from almost all areas of electronics. Thus, in addition to the chip design department, many other departments have been developed through projects for NOVELIC’s clients abroad. Even today, the company has no credit lines and is financed from its own business, and with the help of the Serbian Government’s Innovation Fund. Over time, partnerships have been established with key global manufacturers of radar chips. NOVELIC has focused on quickly mastering the most important products, and that was the decisive factor of the company’s success. The radar chip from NOVELIC is highly developed, but for current solutions, we still use chips obtained from large suppliers. All other components are being developed internally – algorithm, antennas, housing.

As a rule, the best students join NOVELIC after graduating from ETF Belgrade, Faculty of Electronics in Nis, and FTN Novi Sad.
