PRODUCTS/SERVICES

The main product of our company is a flexo printing machine for printing wrappers (hoses) for salami and sausages. 90% of our machines are sold on foreign markets. We have the largest placement in the most demanding EU market. In addition to Europe, we have exported to the markets of North Africa and South America. Our market is small, a market niche, but we managed to win the largest share in it (30-40%). Our customers range from small family businesses to large multinational companies. We have succeeded thanks to the product range: we offer 2 basic machine models. From the beginning, our strategy was not to make cheap but high-performance machines. Due to the fact that serial production is impossible (because our market is small) we set out on the path of constant innovation. None of our machines are the same. Every machine we addto our assets “has something new”. This has positioned us as a manufacturer of the best machines in our industry. “The best in the industry” status is proved by the fact that our machines are currently the most expensive on the market while our success continues.

COMPANY DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURIAL STORY

Three things coincided to launch our business:
• Our founders have many years of experience both in the printing industry and in the production of simple machines for the printing industry
• Good analysis of this niche market, from market capacity to competition assessment
• And of course a web of favourable circumstances
From the beginning, the focus was on engineering while the production of all parts and assembly of machines helped. The business expanded over time and the company is now offering a complete assembly of the machines. The production of parts is still helpful. But we never have abandoned the idea that innovation is a necessity for life and growth of the company. Therefore out of our 12 employees 5 are engineers. Since the company’s establishment our sales are guided by our customer’s satisfaction and we are recognised in the market for this. The sale relying on “word of mouth” marketing-tactic proved to be successful in DMITEH’s case. The turning point in our development was the third machine and its sale in the EU (The Netherlands). The problems in respect of obtaining the bank guarantee for the downpayment, and of providing guarantees for good work performance seemed insurmountable. Banks were looking for excellent balance sheets from previous years, which we did not have at that time. The challenge was solved with a guarantee provided by the company founder’s personal friend.

CONTRIBUTION TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

Our company has never reduced the number of staff. At the very beginning we hired experienced experts. Now, as a rule, we employ young people immediately after school. Over time, young staff take on more responsible positions and new employees (without work experience) come to their positions. We are very satisfied with the results of such a practice and with the opportunity we provide to young staff members to obtain their first work experience in their country. Since the beginning our strategy was not to make cheap but high-performance machines. DMITEH’s founders are constantly investing in staff education. We want our staff to be satisfied, because we see this as a prerequisite for a successful business. Our salaries are significantly above the national average. An additional proof of our commitment to the Goals of Sustainable Development is the fact that DMITEH has been awarded funds from the” Innovation Fund” of the Serbia’s Government.
